Eight recurring operating patterns

Find the constraint before you add more activity.

Answer eight questions about how pipeline works today. We will show the pattern your answers support, the evidence behind it and three practical actions for the next 30 days. There is no readiness score.

How does pipeline work today?

Choose the closest answer, even if reality is messier. Tied constraints are shown as ties.

1. How clear is the market and buying problem?
2. Where do most new opportunities come from?
3. Which outbound channels run consistently?
4. What is true about cold email?
5. Who owns most list building, research and admin?
6. What has happened to inbound pipeline?
7. How connected are research, outreach and CRM data?
8. What protects the company domain from cold sending?

What this diagnostic is looking for

Pipeline problems often look similar from the outside: inconsistent meetings, too much founder involvement or a team asking for another tool. The underlying constraint can sit in a different part of the motion. This diagnostic looks for eight recurring patterns: referral dependence, founder-carried outbound, LinkedIn-only outreach, unstable cold email, SDRs doing operations work, an inbound plateau, fragmented systems and missing sending infrastructure.

The result is selected from the answers that directly support a pattern. If two patterns have equally strong evidence, both are shown. If your market is still being validated, the diagnostic recommends learning before scale. A clean result does not mean the motion is perfect; it means no single operating pattern stood out from these eight questions.

Use the result as a starting hypothesis

Take the diagnosis into a 30-day operating cycle. Confirm the evidence with CRM outcomes, seller time, campaign data and recent customer conversations. Make one constrained change, define what improvement would look like and review the result before adding another workflow or channel.

When the answer is “not ready yet”

Outbound infrastructure cannot create product-market fit. If the segment and buying problem are still moving, a smaller manual test will produce better learning than a scaled system. The useful next step is to narrow the market, capture repeated buyer language and validate who responds before automating the motion.
